Dysport - Dysport San Diego - Dysport Injections San Diego
At Synergy Advanced Medical Aesthetics, we have a knowledgeable staff that can help with your questions about Dysport treatments in San Diego. Dysport is similar to BOTOX Cosmetic in that it is an injectable form of botulium toxin Type A. Dysport is often used to paralyze face muscles that cause lines and wrinkles on your brows, forehead, and eyes. This procedure temporarily smoothes out the appearance of lines and wrinkles that have resulted from many years of repeated facial expressions.
What is Dysport?
Dysport is a relatively new product that was approved by the FDA in April 2009 although it has been used overseas for many years. It is arrived by extracting a protein from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Although smaller amounts of Dysport are injected in the face muscles, patients can expect the same results as you can get from BOTOX Cosmetic treatments. These injections are not intended to be permanent but a temporary solution to eliminating lines and wrinkles from problem areas. While both products are used to fight wrinkles, they cannot be used interchangeably. Both Dysport and BOTOX have different dosage amounts and our office here in San Diego can assist you with figuring out how much dosage is needed.
How long does Dysport take effect?
Dysport treatments have seen slightly faster results with effects that can be seen from one to five days while BOTOX Cosmetic treatments may take a little longer for effects to be seen. In a few cases, wrinkles may begin to go away as soon as a day after receiving Dysport treatment. This type of result can influence patients as they decide between Dysport and BOTOX treatments.
How long does Dysport results last?
Some studies have shown that results from Dysport can last for six months to a year as opposed to the lesser result times for BOTOX. However, some reports have shown that there was not a wide variation between the two products.
What is the pricing of Dysport compared to BOTOX?
A factor in choosing whether to go with Dysport or BOTOX treatments is the cost. Although the cost of Dysport is less than BOTOX, it also does not have the same strength. Patients would need more dosage of Dysport to have similar results of BOTOX which means the cost might be similar at the end. Our staff here at the San Diego office can discuss pricing with you.
What are the side effects of Dysport?
The potential side effects of Dysport are similar to the ones with BOTOX. This includes temporary bruising, numbness, or soreness around the treated areas. Patients may also experience slight headaches that can last for a few hours after the procedure. A very small percentage of patients might also see eyelid drooping as a result of treatment. This can last for a few days to a few weeks.
